Obituary for Sandra Lee Kobata

KOBATA, SANDRA “SANDY” BERNARDS (65) passed away on Wednesday, April 6, 2016 after a long battle with Cortico Basal Degeneration.  She is survived by her husband of 42 years, Mark Kobata; children, Randy and Krissy Kobata; grandchildren, Aidan and Caroline Kobata; sister, Karlene (Howard) Weg; and sister-in-law, Patti (Michael) Nomura; and many other relatives and close friends.  She was a vibrant soul whose motto “I choose to be happy,” carried her through her life especially as her physical and mental deterioration took control.  She was a proud graduate of UCLA where she met her husband and married a year after they graduated.  Always the support structure in her family, she was involved in all things that involved her children, from Sports Day at St. Martin of Tours to training table for the Loyola High School Football team.  She invested all of her love into her family and long standing friendships and was always willing to help anyone in need.

A memorial service celebrating her life will be held on Saturday, April 23, 2016 at 3:00 p.m. at Brentwood Presbyterian Church, 12000 San Vicente Blvd., Los Angeles, CA 90049.  In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made in her honor to AAMDS.org and/or BetheMatch.org.
