Dear Family of Tokuji,

I sat behind Tokuji in many of the high school classes we had together. We had a lot of fun kidding around. I have often thought of him throughout the years and wondered what he was doing and how he was. I will remember him fondly and my condolences to you on his passing. May he rest in peace.

Fujizawa Family,

I first met Tokuji at Hermosa View School in 1st grade. Yours and our family were very scarce Japanese in the beach town of Hermosa. I went to school with him from Hermosa View, Pier Ave Junior High School, and Mira Costa High School. He was always calm, funny and smart. His leadership and intellect was always on an unspoken level which I’ll remember always. His wit and humor got him to be class president in high school with just a wonderful speech which makes me smile today over 44 years later. As his younger brother related at the services today, I’m sure he has a smile on his face as he looks over us.

I was so very sorry to learn of Tokuji’s passing today. He will be missed. He was a very intelligent and helpful man. I hope he is enjoying the music of the angels--on vinyl--his way.

Hello, Several Mira Costa classmates have just received the notice of Tokuji’s passing. Each email has related how special Tokuji was and what fond memories we have of him. I only knew him in high school but his presence has stayed with me all of these years. He truly made a difference in all of our lives. I hope you all know you are in our thoughts. I knew Tokugi throughout our public school years and still speak of him often. I admired him so much. He was kind and entertaining and smart and strong. I never knew his family but I can imagine that they were all wonderful people, too, and must feel a great loss without him in our world. I am certainly saddened to hear he has passed.
