Obituary for Masashi Uriu

URIU, MASASHI, M.D. (84) veteran of WWII passed away on August 28, 2010 in Torrance.  He is survived by his wife, Christine Uriu; children Karen (Mitsu) Nakamura, Mark (Beverly O’Mara) Uriu, Candice (Steve) Yokomizo, Marcia and Kevin (Goril Lynghaug) Uriu; stepchildren Craig, Neil, and Gwen Muranaka, Jane (Michael) Lebbin, Ronald, Mark, and Rick (Mariellen) Taniguchi; 14 grandchildren; siblings Fumiko Uriu, Dr. Dale (Grace) Uriu, Dr. Stanley Uriu; brother-in-law Roy Sumi; also survived by many nieces, nephews and other relatives.

 

A funeral service will be held on Sunday, September 5, 2010 at 3:00PM at Riviera United Methodist Church, 375 Palos Verdes Blvd., Redondo Beach, CA with Rev. Mark Nakagawa from Centenary United Methodist Church officiating.  The family request the flowers be omitted.  
Note: Flower orders for the service of Masashi Uriu have been requested to be omitted.

Dear Uriu Family,
Please accept my sincerest condolences for your loss. I met Dr. Mas as we both exercised at Torrance Memorial’s Cardiac Rehab department. He always had a warm smile when we greeted each other and we had many nice chats. I was very sad to hear of his passing and he will be greatly missed.

Family of Mas. I will try to attend, but If I can not, I would like to extend my thoughts to the family. I have known Mas for a while and he was always a positive person and most of all very nice.
