Obituary for Pearl Tomoko Akutagawa

AKUTAGAWA, Pearl Tomoko (98) peacefully passed away on April 3, 2013 in Torrance. She is predeceased by her husband, James Susumu and daughters, Joyce Yukiko Akutagawa and Nancy Sumiko Phy, and survived by daughter, Marilyne (John) McCall; grandchildren, John (Suzie), Michael (Dina) and Dan (Nadia) McCall, Scott (Lisa) Phy and Shannon (Brian) Berkheiser; great-grandchildren, Sean, Julia, Kyle, Caitlyn, Courtney, Katherine, Matthew, Lucas, Kelly, Benjamin, Maya, and Patrick; sisters-in-law, Chiyeko and Fumie Furushima, Kiyo Yoshioka, Itsu Yamada, Jackie (George) Masaki and Fumi Akutagawa; also survived by many nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

 

She taught us all how to live our lives by example. We are blessed to have had her in our lives and will forever treasure her memory. 

A funeral service will be held on Thursday, April 18, 2013 at 11:00AM at Gardena Buddhist Church, 1517 W. 166th St., Gardena, CA.

I read with sorrow of the loss of Pearl. You have my deepest condolences. May God comfort you during this difficult time. Please remember death is not the end. Almighty God has given us His son, Our Lord Christ Jesus, and through him we have the promise that our loved ones will be brought back to life in the resurrection. Although this promise does not completely take away the pain of missing Pearl, I pray that it brings you peace. Galatians 1:3; John 5:21, 28, 29; Psalms 83:18. Heartfelt prayers are with the family.
